Combined Zircon/Apatite U-Pb and Fission-Track Dating by LA-ICP-MS and Its Geological Applications: An Example from the Egyptian Younger Granites

چکیده
Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) is classically used in U-Pb dating to measure U and Pb isotopic concentrations. Recently, it has become frequently fission-track (FT) chronometry too. As an advantage, the FT double will enable efficiently determining crystallization ages thermo-tectonic history concurrently as samples volume, analytical time, efforts, cost be greatly reduced. To demonstrate validity of this approach, a Younger granite (Ediacaran age) sample from North Eastern Desert (NED), Egypt was analyzed for dating. The integration multiple geochronologic data yielded zircon age 599 ± 30 Ma, after emplacement, rock cooled /uplifted rapidly depths 9–14 km response post-Pan African Orogeny erosional event indicated by apatite 474 9 Ma. Afterwards, area experienced slow cooling/exhumation short period, most-likely denudation effect. During Devonian, exhumed reach 1.5–3 Hercynian tectonic event, 347 16 Then studied relatively long period thermal stability between Carboniferous Eocene. Oligocene-Miocene, Gulf Suez opening affected crustal uplift its current elevation. This Orogenic information reveals validity, efficiency, importance techniques using LA-ICP-MS methodology.

Dating of Precambrian Metasedimentary Rocks and Timing of their Metamorphism in the Soursat Metamorphic Complex (NW IRAN): Using LA–ICP-MS, U–Pb Dating of Zircon and Monazite
Soursat Metamorphic Complex (SMC) in west of Takab city is one of the polyphase metamorphic terrenes in northern Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic belt of Iran. The SMC composed mainly of metasedimentary rocks associated with granitic intrusions. Based on metamorphic rocks, two metamorphic phases could be separate in the complex. M1 is representative of regional metamorphisms which varies from greens...

متن کاملChemical Abrasion Applied to LA-ICP-MS U–Pb Zircon Geochronology
Zircon (ZrSiO4) is the most commonly used mineral in U–Pb geochronology. Although it has proven to be a robust chronometer, it can suffer from Pb-loss or elevated common Pb, both of which impede precision and accuracy of age determinations. Chemical abrasion of zircon involves thermal annealing followed by relatively low temperature partial dissolution in HF acid. It was specifically developed ...

U-Pb Zircon and Titanite Dating in Support of British Columbia Geological Survey Regional Mapping Studies
In this paper we report U-Pb zircon and titanite data and interpreted ages for sixteen rocks (Figure 1) sampled in support of regional mapping projects conducted by the British Columbia Geological Survey Branch during the midto late-1990s. Each sample is reported with geological context, interpretation of U-Pb data and significance of the date. The U-Pb results are also displayed on standard co...
